Jira pricing in 2026: every plan, the October price rise and what you'll really pay
Jira Cloud prices after Atlassian's October 13, 2026 increase: Free, Standard, Premium and Enterprise, monthly vs annual costs for 10 and 25 users, the Free plan's limits, Rovo credits from December 3, and the costs teams forget.

Jira's pricing page shows one number per plan, but what a team actually pays depends on its size, whether it pays monthly or yearly, and, from December 2026, how much AI and automation it uses. Atlassian also raised Cloud list prices on October 13, 2026, so older articles quote prices that no longer apply.
This guide covers Jira Cloud pricing as of November 2026, with worked examples for small teams. Every figure links to Atlassian's own pages so you can check for changes; prices were last checked against Atlassian's published tables on November 3, 2026.

Monthly billing is progressive: on Standard, each of your first 100 users costs $9.70 a month, users 101 to 250 cost $8.20 each, and users 251 to 1,000 cost $6.85 each. Premium works the same way at $19.60, $14.65 and $10.20. Annual billing is priced by user tier instead.
Why the pricing page shows a different number. Jira's pricing page leads with a per-user figure from its price calculator, which starts from a much larger team than most startups have. Because the per-user rate drops with size, that figure is lower than what a 10- or 25-person team pays. Always check the price for your own user count.
What changed on October 13, 2026
Atlassian raised Cloud list prices for Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery and several other products on October 13, 2026. The change applies to new purchases, renewals and upgrades (Atlassian's pricing FAQ). For Jira on the 1–100 user band:
Standard rose from $9.05 to $9.70 per user per month, about 7%.
Premium rose from $18.30 to $19.60, also about 7%.
Annual Standard for 10 users rose from $900 to $950 a year.
Monthly vs annual: worked examples
Annual billing is cheaper; Atlassian says it saves "up to 17%". Here's what that means for small teams, using Atlassian's published tables:
Team
Standard, monthly billing
Standard, annual billing
Premium, monthly billing
Premium, annual billing
10 users
$97 a month ($1,164 a year)
$950 a year
$196 a month ($2,352 a year)
$1,950 a year
25 users
$242.50 a month ($2,910 a year)
$2,450 a year
$490 a month ($5,880 a year)
$4,900 a year
50 users
$485 a month ($5,820 a year)
$4,850 a year
$980 a month ($11,760 a year)
$9,800 a year
Monthly figures are the per-user price multiplied by the team size; annual figures come straight from Atlassian's tables. A 10-person team on Standard saves about $214 a year by paying annually.
Small teams, check this first. Atlassian's annual tiers start at 10 users, so a 5-person team on annual Standard pays the 10-user price of $950. Paying monthly costs 5 × $9.70 = $48.50 a month, or $582 a year, which is cheaper. And at 5 people, the Free plan may be all you need.
What you get on each plan
Free suits a small team trying Jira out: up to 10 users, 2 GB of storage, 150 automation steps a month, and community support only. The plan comparison also lists real limits: restricted permissions and roles, no work-level security, no audit logs, and limits on email notifications and apps. Atlassian may deactivate Free sites that go unused. Free plans get no Rovo AI allowance.
Standard is where most small teams land. It adds user roles and permissions, 250 GB of storage, business-hours support, 400 automation steps per user per month, and Rovo search, chat and agents.
Premium adds unlimited storage, cross-team planning (advanced roadmaps), a sandbox, 24/7 support for critical issues and a 99.9% uptime SLA. It also raises automation to 750 steps and Rovo to 70 credits per user per month.
Enterprise is billed annually only and adds a 99.95% uptime SLA, up to 150 sites, and the largest automation and AI allowances.
The new cost from December 3, 2026: AI and automation overage
From December 3, 2026, Atlassian starts billing usage beyond each plan's allowance for several meters, including Rovo AI credits and Automation steps (usage-based pricing). Extra usage is switched on by default, and admins can turn it off for each meter.
For Rovo, one quick Rovo Chat message uses 10 credits, so a Standard user's 25 monthly credits cover about two and a half Chat messages. Credits are pooled across your organization, Rovo Search stays free, and overage costs $0.01 per credit. Our guide to Rovo credits has worked examples; for most small teams it's tens of dollars a month, not hundreds.
Before December 3: decide whether to cap overage, and check which automations or agents run on every work item update.
The Jira Coding Agent uses the same credits. Since June 22, 2026, every paid Jira plan includes the Jira Coding Agent, which turns a work item into code and opens a pull request. Atlassian describes it as a premium AI feature that consumes Rovo credits. Jira can also assign work items to third-party agents such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude, which are billed by their own vendors.
Costs teams forget
Marketplace apps. Most Cloud apps are priced by the number of users on your Jira site, not by how many people use the app.
Confluence. Many teams buy it alongside Jira for specs and docs: Standard is $7.15 per user per month billed monthly after the October rise. See Confluence vs Notion for engineering docs.
Growing past 10 users. The Free plan stops at 10 users. User number 11 means paying for all 11 on Standard.
Data Center. Atlassian stopped selling Data Center to new customers in March 2026 and ends it on March 28, 2029, so self-hosting is no longer a long-term way around Cloud prices.

Price is rarely the deciding factor, though. Jira's strength is configurability and its deep development panel; its cost is complexity. If you're weighing a switch, our guide to Jira alternatives compares the options by team size and setup.

Where KnowWhyy fits
Whatever you track work in, the reasoning behind decisions rarely ends up in the ticket. It's in the pull request review, the Slack thread and the Notion spec. KnowWhyy connects GitHub, Slack and Notion and answers "why did we do this?" with a citation for every claim. It isn't a project management tool and doesn't replace Jira; it sits beside it. KnowWhyy doesn't read Jira yet (it's on our roadmap), but pull request titles that carry Jira keys show the ticket reference in its cited sources. Pricing is flat per seat with no AI credits, and there's a free plan for up to 2 people.
The short version
Jira Cloud Standard is $9.70 and Premium $19.60 per user per month on monthly billing for up to 100 users, after Atlassian's October 13, 2026 price rise.
Annual billing is cheaper: $950 a year for 10 users on Standard, or $1,950 on Premium.
