Comparison · Atlassian Rovo
KnowWhyy vs Atlassian Rovo.
Rovo is Atlassian's AI, built into Jira and Confluence. KnowWhyy is for teams whose decisions live in pull requests, Slack threads and Notion pages, whether or not they use Jira.
The short answer
If your team plans in Jira, documents in Confluence and pays for an Atlassian Cloud plan, Rovo is already included and reads that work natively. If your history lives mostly in GitHub, Slack and Notion, or you don't use Jira at all, KnowWhyy connects to those tools directly, prices per seat with no per-message credits, and starts free. KnowWhyy doesn't read Jira or Confluence yet; both are planned.

Which to choose
An honest recommendation.
Choose Atlassian Rovo if…
- Your team plans in Jira and documents in Confluence.
- You already pay for a Standard, Premium or Enterprise Atlassian Cloud plan.
- You want AI inside the Atlassian tools you use every day.
- You need answers across Jira work items, Confluence pages and many other connected apps.
Choose KnowWhyy if…
- Your decisions are argued in Slack and explained in pull requests and Notion, not in Jira.
- You don't use Jira, or you're on Atlassian's Free plan.
- You want a flat per-seat price, with no credits to budget for each chat message.
- You want to connect GitHub without installing Jira apps or asking each user to link an account.
If you're on Jira, use both: Rovo for your work items and Confluence pages, KnowWhyy for the reasoning in pull request reviews, Slack threads and Notion. Pull request titles usually carry Jira keys, so the ticket reference appears in the sources KnowWhyy cites.
FAQ
KnowWhyy vs Atlassian Rovo
Is KnowWhyy an Atlassian Rovo alternative?
For teams whose history lives in GitHub, Slack and Notion, yes. If your work lives in Jira and Confluence, Rovo reads them natively, and KnowWhyy doesn't connect to Jira or Confluence yet. Both are on our roadmap.
Can I buy Rovo without Jira or Confluence?
No. Atlassian includes Rovo with Standard, Premium and Enterprise Cloud plans of Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management, and says no separate Rovo purchase is required. Free plans don't get a Rovo credit allowance.
How much will Rovo Chat cost from December 3, 2026?
Each quick Rovo Chat message uses 10 credits. Jira and Confluence plans include 25 (Standard), 70 (Premium) or 150 (Enterprise) credits per user a month, pooled across the organization. Usage beyond that costs $0.01 per credit unless an admin caps it. Rovo Search, in-line summaries and rewrites stay free.
Does KnowWhyy work with Jira?
Not yet; Jira is on the roadmap. Today KnowWhyy reads GitHub, Slack and Notion. Because branch names and pull request titles often carry Jira keys, ticket references still show up in the sources it cites.
