Use case · Team chatbot
One AI chatbot for GitHub, Slack and Notion.
Instead of searching three tools, ask KnowWhy. It reads the repositories, channels and pages you choose and answers in plain language, citing the commit, pull request, thread or page behind every claim. When your sources don't say, it tells you.

Questions you can ask
Plain-language questions, answered from your own tools.
- Why did we move billing to a hosted checkout?
- What did the team decide about API versioning, and where is it written down?
- Which pull request changed the session timeout, and who reviewed it?
- What's the latest on the search migration?
Example questions. Answers depend on what your connected sources contain.
Where answers come from
GitHub, Slack and Notion, in one answer.
You choose every repository, channel and page that gets indexed. Integrations are read-only.
How answers work
Answers you can check, not just trust.
Every claim is cited
Numbered citations open the exact excerpt and link to the original source. Citations that don't map to real evidence are removed before you see them.
No answer beats a guess
Answers use only indexed sources the asker is allowed to see. When they don't contain the answer, KnowWhy says so.
Understands “last week”
Relative dates resolve in your organization's time zone, and the searched range is shown above the answer.
Decisions vs. proposals
KnowWhy is built to separate what was decided from what was only proposed, and to flag sources that disagree.
Good to know
The limits, up front.
- You chat in the KnowWhy web app. There is no Slack bot or slash command yet.
- Answers come only from the repositories, channels and pages an admin has chosen to index, and only those the asker is allowed to see.
- GitHub, Slack and Notion are the integrations available today. Others, such as Jira, Linear, Confluence and Google Drive, are planned.
What is an AI chatbot for GitHub, Slack and Notion?
It's an assistant that answers questions using your team's own GitHub, Slack and Notion content. KnowWhy indexes the sources you choose and answers in plain language, with a citation for every claim so you can check it in the original tool.
Does the chatbot make answers up?
No. Answers are generated only from indexed sources the person asking is allowed to see. If the sources don't contain an answer, KnowWhy says so instead of guessing.
Can it read our source code or Slack DMs?
No. Source code files are not indexed, and Slack direct messages and group DMs are never accessed. Integrations use read-only permissions.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, there is a free plan with 300 questions a month and up to 2 members, with GitHub, Slack and Notion all included. The Team plan is $15 per member / month, or $150 per member / year, and Enterprise is available on request.
