Use case · Notion

Turn your Notion docs into cited answers.

Specs, meeting notes and decision records are only useful if people can find the right one. KnowWhy indexes the Notion pages you share with it and answers questions in plain language, citing each page it used, next to the Slack threads and pull requests that tell the rest of the story.

Questions you can ask

Plain-language questions, answered from your own Notion.

  • What does the checkout spec say about guest accounts?
  • What was decided in the last architecture review?
  • Do our onboarding docs match what the team agreed in Slack?
  • Where is the decision record for moving to the new queue?

Example questions. Answers depend on what your connected sources contain.

What gets indexed

You choose what gets indexed.

Index the Notion pages shared with KnowWhy so answers can cite specs, meeting notes and decision records, with links back to each page.

Indexed

  • Pages shared with KnowWhy, including their nested blocks
  • The page hierarchy, so each page keeps its place in your docs
  • Edits, plus archived and deleted pages, which leave the index

Never indexed

  • Pages not shared with the KnowWhy integration

How answers work

Answers you can check, not just trust.

Every claim is cited

Numbered citations open the exact excerpt and link to the original source. Citations that don't map to real evidence are removed before you see them.

No answer beats a guess

Answers use only indexed sources the asker is allowed to see. When they don't contain the answer, KnowWhy says so.

Understands “last week”

Relative dates resolve in your organization's time zone, and the searched range is shown above the answer.

Decisions vs. proposals

KnowWhy is built to separate what was decided from what was only proposed, and to flag sources that disagree.

Better together

One question across Notion and the rest of your tools.

A decision is rarely in one place. Connect more sources and a single answer can cite the discussion, the change and the write-up together.

Good to know

The limits, up front.

  • Notion only exposes pages explicitly shared with the integration. Share more from Notion's “Connections” menu.
  • Notion content is visible only to workspace owners and admins until an admin grants access to others.
  • Meeting transcripts aren't connected yet. Notes captured in Notion or Slack are fully searchable today.

How KnowWhy compares to other approaches →

Which Notion pages can KnowWhy see?

Only the pages shared with the KnowWhy integration during authorization or later from Notion's “Connections” menu. Nothing else in the workspace is visible to it.

What happens when a page is edited or archived?

Edits are re-indexed on the next sync, and archived or deleted pages are removed, so answers don't cite a page that no longer exists.

What if a Notion page disagrees with Slack or GitHub?

KnowWhy is built to point out disagreements between sources and cite both sides, rather than silently picking one.
