Slack AI pricing in 2026: which plan includes what, and is it worth it?
Slack AI is no longer an add-on. What each plan includes as of November 2026, what AI search can and can't see, costs for 10 to 50 users, and alternatives.

If you search for "Slack AI pricing", you'll still find articles quoting a separate per-user add-on. That add-on is gone. Since Slack's June 2025 packaging change, AI features come bundled into specific plans, and the useful question is no longer "how much is Slack AI?" but "which plan do we need, and what does it get us?"
This guide covers Slack's plans and AI features as of November 2026, what Slack's AI search can and can't see, what the upgrade costs for a small team, and when it's worth it. Prices and plan details were checked against Slack's own pages on November 6, 2026.

Two other details from the pricing page. New teams that buy Pro or Business+ online within 7 days of creating the team can get 50% off for 3 months; the offer doesn't apply to annual plans or Enterprise+. And Slack bills only for active members: anyone who takes an action in a 28-day period counts, and you get a prorated credit for paid members who go inactive.
The Slack AI add-on is no longer sold on the Slack website. Customers who had it kept it until their first renewal after August 17, 2025.
Pro got two AI features: conversation and thread summaries, and huddle notes. Its price stayed the same.
Business+ went from $12.50 to $15 per user a month (annual billing) and now includes the advanced AI features.
A new Enterprise+ plan added enterprise search.
You can turn AI features off, but Slack says your plan price won't change if you do.
If you were on Pro with the old add-on, you now need Business+ to keep AI search, recaps and translations.
What Slack AI search can see
This is the part that matters most for deciding whether it will answer your team's questions.
It sees what you can see in Slack. Slack says AI responses only include information available to you: public channels, plus private channels and DMs you belong to. Answers appear at the top of search results and include citations to the source messages or files.
Below Enterprise+, it sees Slack only. AI search answers on Business+ draw on Slack messages and files. They don't read your GitHub pull requests, your Notion pages or your Jira tickets.
Enterprise+ adds other apps. With enterprise search, an org admin can add data sources, and members connect their own accounts. As of November 2026 the supported sources are:
Asana Google Drive Microsoft Teams
Box Google Mail OneDrive/SharePoint
Confluence Cloud Jira Cloud Salesforce
Dropbox Microsoft Outlook Seismic
GitHub
GitHub supports up to five organizations, and Jira and Confluence up to five subdomains each. Results only include content the person searching has permission to see. Notion isn't on the list.
Slackbot can reach other apps live, through MCP. Separately from search, Slack lets you connect Slackbot to apps that offer an MCP server. Each person connects their own account, and Slackbot can then use that app's read and write tools in a conversation. This is available wherever Slackbot is, but every request counts against your Slackbot limit, and it queries the app live rather than searching an index of its history.
It can't answer from history you don't have. On the Free plan, messages older than 90 days are hidden and data is deleted after a year, though AI search isn't on Free anyway. Paid plans keep full history by default.
The Slackbot limit on Business+
Slackbot, Slack's personal AI agent, is where most of the newer AI capability lives: deep research, MCP app connections, tasks and file analysis. On Business+, each member can send 15 messages to Slackbot per week, resetting at midnight on Monday in their time zone. Enterprise+ isn't subject to weekly limits. Free and Pro get Slackbot only during a trial or preview.
If you've connected a Salesforce org, you can buy extra Slackbot usage with Salesforce Flex Credits. Otherwise, plan on 15 messages per person per week. AI search in the search bar is a separate feature from Slackbot.
What the upgrade costs for a small team
The real cost of Slack AI is the difference between Pro and Business+. Here it is at list prices:
Team size
Pro, annual billing
Business+, annual billing
AI premium per year (annual)
AI premium per year (monthly billing)
10 users
$870 a year
$1,800 a year
$930
$1,110
25 users
$2,175 a year
$4,500 a year
$2,325
$2,775
50 users
$4,350 a year
$9,000 a year
$4,650
$5,550
Annual figures are the per-user price × 12 × team size. On monthly billing, the gap is $18 − $8.75 = $9.25 per user a month. Because Slack bills only active members, your actual bill may be lower.
Business+ isn't only AI, so don't treat the whole premium as an AI cost. The pricing page also lists SAML-based single sign-on on Business+ (Pro offers OAuth with Google) and posting permissions in any channel (Pro limits this to #general). If you need those anyway, the AI is closer to free.
When Business+ is worth it
Business+ tends to pay off when most of these are true:
- [ ] Most decisions and answers in our team happen in Slack threads
- [ ] People regularly ask "where did we discuss X?" and give up
- [ ] We have long Slack history worth searching (we're on a paid plan already)
- [ ] We'd use recaps and summaries daily, not just search
- [ ] We need SAML SSO or other Business+ admin features anyway
- [ ] 15 Slackbot messages per person per week is enough for how we'd use it
It's a weaker fit when:
The "why" lives outside Slack. If decisions get argued in Slack but explained in pull request reviews and Notion specs, Business+ answers only half the question.
You won't go to Enterprise+. Cross-tool search is the feature many teams actually want, and it's only on the sales-led plan.
You're a small team on Free. Going from Free to Business+ is a big step. Pro plus good search habits may cover you for a while.
Try before you upgrade
Before paying for Business+, write down ten questions your team asked in the last month and check how far plain search gets you. Slack search modifiers work on every plan:
in:#payments "let's go with" decisions in one channel
from:@maria in:#infra after:2026-08-01 one person, one channel, a date window
"retry policy" is:thread exact phrase, inside threads only
If those find most answers, the bigger win is a habit change, like marking decisions in a searchable way. Our guide to finding old decisions in Slack has a lightweight system. If plain search fails because the answers aren't in Slack at all, AI search on Business+ won't fix that.
Alternatives to Slack AI
Stay on Pro and fix the habits. Summaries and huddle notes are already included, and a DECISION: convention makes old calls searchable.
Notion AI. If Notion is your hub, its Business plan ($20 per member a month on Notion's pricing page) includes AI connectors for Slack, GitHub and more, with answers that cite specific Slack messages. Connectors generally reach back one year from setup, per Notion's docs.
Company-wide search. Glean and Guru search across many tools but are priced through sales. See our Glean alternatives roundup.
Build your own. Possible, but connectors, permissions and Slack's API rules make it more work than a demo suggests. See build vs buy an internal AI chatbot.

Where KnowWhyy fits
KnowWhyy reads the Slack channels you choose, alongside your GitHub pull requests, commits and issues and your Notion pages, and answers in the KnowWhyy web app with a citation for every claim. It doesn't run inside Slack, and it never reads DMs or group DMs; private channels are indexed only after you invite the app. That makes it a complement to Slack AI rather than a replacement: Slack AI for recaps and quick questions about what was said, KnowWhyy when the answer spans the thread, the pull request and the doc. The free plan covers 2 members and 300 questions a month. See KnowWhyy vs Slack AI or AI search for Slack.
The short version
There's no Slack AI add-on any more. AI search answers, recaps, translations and Slackbot come with Business+, at $15 per user a month billed annually or $18 monthly, as of November 2026.
Pro ($7.25 annual, $8.75 monthly) includes only summaries, huddle notes and automatic search filters.
Business+ AI search sees Slack only. Searching GitHub, Jira, Confluence or Google Drive from Slack needs Enterprise+ (contact sales), and Notion isn't a supported source.
Slackbot on Business+ is limited to 15 messages per member per week.
For 25 people, Business+ costs about $2,325 a year more than Pro on annual billing. It's worth it when your answers live in Slack and you'll use summaries and recaps daily.
